A man and woman have been charged following an investigation of an alleged shooting in the state's Mid North Coast.
About 7.10am on Sunday 17 November 2024, police were called to a Bago State Forest, Rollover Road, Bago, following reports of a concern for welfare.
Officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District attended and found a 32-year-old man suffering gunshot wounds to his arms and legs.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before being taken to hospital in a serious condition.
Police were told the man had been allegedly kidnapped by three people from Port Macquarie and taken to Bago Forest where he was shot.
A crime scene was established and examined by specialist officers, with bullet casings recovered at the scene, and detectives commenced Strike Force Parham to investigate the incident.
Following an extensive investigation under Strike Force Parham – with the assistance of the Western Australia Police Force, on Thursday 21 November 2024, a woman – aged 38, and a man – aged 25 were arrested by Western Australia Police at Barradonia, south of Kalgoorlie.
Subsequently a search of the vehicle was conducted, with police seizing a loaded sawn-off rifle.
Following further inquiries, about 7.30am on Monday 25 November 2024, strike force detectives attended Perth Airport where the 38-year-old woman was extradited to New South Wales.
She was taken to Mascot Police Station where she was charged with kidnap in company with intent serious indictable occasion actual bodily harm, shoot at with intent to murder, possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority and possess unauthorised pistol.
She was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court yesterday (Tuesday 26 November 2024), where she was refused to appear before Port Macquarie Local Court on Thursday 5 December 2024.
Following more inquiries, about 12.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 26 November 2024), strike force detectives attended Perth Airport and extradited the 25-year-old man to New South Wales.
He was taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with kidnap in company with intent serious indictable occasion actual bodily harm and shoot at with intent to murder.
He was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court today (Wednesday 27 November 2024).
Investigations are continuing.
