On behalf of the United States Department of State, I extend our heartfelt congratulations to the people of Palau on the 30th anniversary of your Independence Day on October 1st.
Palau holds a special place as a key partner of the United States. Together, we are strengthening maritime cooperation, addressing the climate crisis, and promoting economic development across the Pacific region. This includes significant projects like the upcoming military construction at Peleliu airfield, which marks a major strategic development for Palau. The renewal of the Compact of Free Association (COFA) and related agreements reinforces our deep bond, rooted in our commitment to democratic values and a resilient Pacific region, for another next two decades.
As we look to the future, I am eager to further strengthen our partnership and the bonds of friendship between our peoples. I wish the people of Palau a joyous and memorable national celebration.
