As stated by Detective Senior Sergeant Steve Anderson, Auckland City CIB:
Police have charged a man with murder in relation to the homicide investigation into the death of John Ioane in Panmure on 23rd August 2021.
A 48-year-old man was initially charged with common assault.
He is now due to appear in the Auckland District Court today to face a Murder charge as well as a separate assault charge, which allegedly relates to another individual in this matter.
As the matter is before the courts, Police are not in a position to comment further.
