Parkes Shire Council (PSC) is pleased to announce we have commenced construction of a 1,650-meter gravity sewer main. This critical infrastructure project will connect the Parkes Special Activation Precinct (SAP) to Parkes' existing sewerage network, ensuring seamless integration and supporting the region's continued growth.
The new sewer main will commence at a point east of the intersection of Hartigan Avenue and Blaxland Street. From there, it will run along the northern side of Hartigan Avenue, cross to the southern side, and pass beneath the active rail corridor. The pipeline will continue eastward, crossing Forbes Road before reaching an existing manhole on Austral Street, directly linking the SAP to Parkes' town sewerage system.
Parkes Shire Council's Director of Infrastructure, Andrew Francis, highlighted the importance of this project.
"This project is a significant step forward in providing the necessary infrastructure to support the Parkes Special Activation Precinct. By integrating the SAP with our town's sewerage network, we're not only facilitating industrial development but also enhancing the efficiency and capacity of our existing systems. This is essential for the long-term sustainability and growth of our region," Mr Francis said.
