Parliament House Showcases Queensland Manufacturer Skills

Minister for Regional Development and Manufacturing and Minister for Water The Honourable Glenn Butcher

Manufacturers across Queensland will display their capabilities at a Parliament House Showcase, to celebrate Manufacturing Month

  • Guests from the industry will experience the best of Queensland manufacturing
  • More than 35 manufacturers to exhibit Queensland-made products
  • To celebrate the launch of Manufacturing Month, 36 of Queensland's leading manufacturers will show off their wares and capabilities at the second annual Parliamentary Manufacturing Showcase event.

The month-long celebration showcases the achievements of the state's incredible manufacturing industry which contributes around $20 billion a year to Queensland's economy and employs around 180,000 Queenslanders.

More than 300 invited guests from the industry, as well as some of our world-leading manufacturers, and Queensland's members of parliament will experience the best the industry has to offer at the centrepiece of the Queensland Manufacturing Month calendar, the Manufacturing Industry Showcase at Parliament House on 10 September.

The Showcase is a demonstration of the world-leading capabilities of Queensland's manufacturers to Queensland's politicians and other invited guests.

Manufacturers on display include leading high-quality hydraulic cylinder fabricators, Nordon Cylinders; innovative battery producers, Vaulta; and one of Queensland's oldest ice-cream makers, Lick Ice Cream.

The Miles Government has invested more than $240 million in supporting manufacturers across the State, including through Made in Queensland Grants, Manufacturing Hub Grants and the establishment of six Manufacturing Hubs across Queensland, including in Mackay.

The incredibly popular and successful grants programs are supporting businesses to purchase the equipment they need to grow and enter new markets. Importantly, thanks to the Miles Government's investment in manufacturing, nearly 8,000 jobs have been created and supported across Queensland. There are more rounds to come opening later this month.

As stated by Minister for Regional Development and Manufacturing, Glenn Butcher:

"I've always said if we can make it here, we absolutely should. This showcase highlights to world the creativity and innovation of Queensland manufacturing.

"This is an opportunity for my parliamentary colleagues to see first-hand what I'm talking about and it's a chance for them to understand just how impressive our manufactured products are.

"We're backing manufacturing in this state, unlike the LNP. Unfortunately, they plan to cut our successful programs. They have no plan to continue our grant programs and our Hubs face an uncertain future if the LNP are elected. Their Right Priorities document doesn't even mention the word manufacturing once!

"Our government believes in transparency. But David Crisafulli is still dodging questions about his dodgy business past. Recent media reports revealed Mr Crisafulli was being pursued for insolvent trading when he was the sole director of SET solutions."
