Passenger Charged After Serious Crash At Padstow

A man has been charged following a serious crash in Sydney's south west over the weekend.

About 10.40pm on Sunday (4 August 2024), emergency services were called to Davies Road, Padstow, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attended and found a white Audi alight after colliding with a silver Nissan.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze.

Police were told the occupants of the Audi - believed to be three men – allegedly left the scene before police arrival.

The driver of the Nissan, a 39-year-old man, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

A crime scene has been established and specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Following inquiries, crash investigators arrested a 21-year-old man, who is believed to have been a passenger in the Audi, about 7.50am today (Wednesday 7 August 2024) after he attended Bankstown Police Station.

He was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period and granted conditional bail to appear before Bankstown Local court on Wednesday 21 August 2024.

Police will allege in court the 21-year-old man drove the vehicle prior to the crash.
