The Lord Mayor, Councillors and staff at the City of Adelaide were saddened to learn of the recent passing of former Area Councillor and Deputy Lord Mayor David Plumridge AM.
David served two terms as an Area Councillor between 2007 - 2010 and 2010 - 2014 and during his terms on Council served as the Chair of Council's City Development and Sustainability Committee, as a member of the Reconciliation Committee, Adelaide Park Lands Authority, Audit Committee and Capital City Committee.
David had a long career in Local Government including eight years as Mayor at the City of Salisbury. David also served as President of the Local Government Association of South Australia for two years and as National President of Local Government from 1994 to 1996.
In 1993, David was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his service to Local Government and the community.
Lord Mayor Jane Lomax-Smith said David was a truly honourable and thoroughly good man.
"During his time at Council, he was a consummate negotiator and staunch supporter of good governance and conservation," said the Lord Mayor.
Council's thoughts are with David's wife Gladys, his family and friends.
