Path Forward On Live Sheep Exports By Sea

Dept of Agriculture

The Australian Government is providing a further $32.7 million to the transition assistance package for the phase out of live sheep exports by sea, bringing the overall package to $139.7 million.

This additional funding is to further assist those affected by the transition to become well positioned, resilient and ready when the trade ends in 2028.

We are working with the Western Australian Government to deliver key elements of the transition package relating to additional processing capacity and community wellbeing.

The design of the production and supply chain programs with industry will help us to target these programs to support decision making for your business.

We encourage you to read the Transition Plan Implementation Approach, which outlines the Australian Government's funding package and the 10 program delivery areas.
