Four people have been arrested after being caught in a stolen car earlier this morning.
About 2.30am on Thursday 5 December, police were travelling on Belair Road at Hawthorn when they spotted a silver Renault being driven at speed and without displaying number plates.
Patrols attempted to stop the vehicle however the car failed to stop and continued to head north on Belair Road and onto Unley Road.
Police quickly set up spikes on Unley Road and the SUV was successfully spiked causing all four tyres to deflate. The car came to a stop just short of Greenhill Road and the four occupants jumped out of the car and ran west on Greenhill Road.
Eastern District patrols set up cordons and PD Duke and his handler were called in to assist with the search of the suspects. A short time later PD Duke sniffed out one suspect and she was swiftly arrested; a second suspect was located on Greenhill Road and finally three minutes later the remaining two suspects were located and arrested nearby.
The group, a 21-year-old woman from Davoren Park, an 18-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy both from Eyre and a 15-year-old girl from Alberton were all charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle. The 16-year-old driver was further charged with dangerous driving to escape a police pursuit.
They were all granted bail to appear in Adelaide Youth Court at a later date.
Checks revealed the car was stolen from a crash repairer in the northern suburbs earlier in the night.
