Pedestrian Dies After Crash - Fern Bay

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a motorcycle near Newcastle today.

About 4.50pm (Friday 26 July 2024), emergency services were called to Nelson Bay Road at Fern Bay, following reports of a motorcycle and pedestrian crash.

The pedestrian – a man aged in his 50's – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.

The rider – a 21-year-old man – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has commenced.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
