Pedestrian Dies In Kooyong Collision - UPDATE

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision in Kooyong this morning.

Police were first called to the scene following several calls to Triple Zero (000) about a noisy party and gathering in a park on Glenferrie Road.

When police arrived at the scene, officers witnessed a group of pedestrians being struck by a vehicle in a carpark of Sir Zelman Cowen Park about 1.10am.

Sadly, one of the pedestrians, a 24-year-old Clifton Hill woman, died at the scene.

A second pedestrian, a 26-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A man was also struck however escaped physical injury.

The 23-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene.

The Sunbury man remains in custody and will be interviewed by MCIU detectives today.

Detectives are investigating whether speed, alcohol and drugs were a factor in the collision.

Professional Standards Command will have oversight of the investigation, as per usual practice, where police have been in the vicinity of a fatal collision.
