A woman has died after she was hit by a car while walking on the road at Wallsend last night, NSW Police say.
Just after 11pm (Thursday 21 December 2017), a 21-year-old woman was walking with two male friends west along Minmi Road.
As they approached the intersection of Fletcher Street, the woman and one of the men was hit by a Holden Astra sedan, also travelling west on Minmi Street.
The woman received serious head injuries.
She was treated at the scene and taken to John Hunter Hospital where she later died.
The man received a minor leg injury and did not require treatment.
The 18-year-old driver assisted police with inquires and investigations are continuing.
A brief will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
