Pedestrian Seriously Hurt at International Airport Mascot

A pedestrian has been conveyed to hospital after a crash outside the International Airport.

About 6.40am today (Monday 16 September 2024), emergency services responded to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a minibus along Departure Plaza, Mascot, outside the International Airport.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the pedestrian – a 75-year-old man – at the scene before he was taken to St George Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from South Sydney Police Area Command established a crime scene and are awaiting the arrival of specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

The male driver of the vehicle has been taken to Mascot Police Station and is assisting with inquiries.

One lane along Departure Place is closed and major traffic delays are being experienced.

The area is expected to remain a crime scene for a considerable amount of time and motorists are urged to avoid the area.
