- Seven Peel projects to share in $1.17 million Regional Economic Development (RED) Grant funding
- Cook Government investments support regional job creation in manufacturing, agribusiness, hospitality, tourism, environment, allied health, and recreation sectors
Seven Peel projects will share in $1.17 million funding to help build regional business resilience and economic diversity under Round 7 of the Cook Government's Regional Economic Development Grants program.
The RED Grants program is investing $55.85 million over nine years toward locally driven projects to stimulate economic growth in the regions.
The announcement was made by Regional Development Minister Don Punch today at the Mandurah Indoor Rock Climbing Centre, which was one of the successful Peel recipients.
The proponent received a $60,000 grant to expand their current facilities to meet the growing community demand for a safe, inclusive space for fitness and social connection.
The funding will see the centre double its floor space by introducing a state-of-the-art bouldering facility and accommodating diverse activities such as children's parties, men's mental health, women's fitness, senior wellbeing groups and State-level climbing competitions. The project will create 11 new sustainable jobs for the local community.
Also among the group of Round 7 recipients is ARYZTA, which has been awarded $250,000 to purchase equipment to assess new evolving technologies to measure and improve bun quality at its first Western Australian commercial bakery at the Peel Business Park.
The facility in the Shire of Murray, 10 kilometres north-east of Mandurah, will bring world-class industrial bakery technology to the facility, which adopts advanced Al-driven quality assurance, robotics, storage and monitoring systems for ingredient quality and biosecurity.
The bakery will create additional jobs in the region and valuable on-site, hands-on training for both new and experienced bakers upon completion in 2026.
A $150,000 grant will support Waroona Earthworks and Wood Supplies' diversification into niche mine site rehabilitation services in the region, as it transitions away from the use of native forest products.
The grant will fund the purchase of an 'articulated truck' with specialised design to work on steep terrain and help prevent land erosion and plant damage, delivering environmental and economic benefits to the Darling Range scarp east of Waroona.
Waroona-based SDR Engineering has also been awarded $210,000 to expand its operations and diversify into manufacturing replacement spare parts for heavy equipment.
The RED Grant will be used to expand into larger premises adjcent to their current workshop, purchase and install a new lathe and gantry crane.
This project will expand the engineering and manufacturing industry in the Peel region and increase revenue by 40 per cent by manufactuing locally business that has been going interstate and overseas.
Miami Physiotherapy will use its $100,000 grant towards building of a purpose-built physiotherapy and allied health centre in Lakelands, providing treatment rooms, a rehabilitation gym, open class exercise area and consultant rooms.
The facility will fill critical market gaps in Lakelands and create up to five new full-time jobs within the first 12 months of project completion, providing services such as neurological physiotherapy rehabilitation, podiatry and psychology for chronic pain management.
Successful projects in Round 7 will diversify the Peel economy, and support regional job creation in the manufacturing, agribusiness, hospitality, tourism, environmental, allied health, and recreation sectors.

"Since the inception of this program, the WA Labor Government has invested more than $4 million across 40 locally driven projects in Peel, helping to build a better region for the local community.
"With a record $10 million on offer for Round 7 'Mega REDs', we are fostering regional development that is making meaningful change, creating real jobs and diversifying regional economies."
