Cardinia Shire Council officially opened the upgraded Perc Allison Reserve pavilion yesterday.
The $630,000 pavilion upgrade works included universal and accessible change rooms for players and umpires, and a first aid and injury prevention/strapping room.
Cardinia Shire Council Mayor Councillor Brett Owen officially opened the pavilion with Member for La Trobe Jason Wood MP on Thursday 29 April 2021.
Cr Owen said Council was pleased to upgrade the existing pavilion to cater for the fast-growing community in Beaconsfield.
"We are grateful to the Australian Government's Sport Australia Fund for contributing $500,000 to this important upgrade project.
"Beaconsfield is part of Melbourne's growth corridor and experiencing significant population growth. This results in a strong demand for new recreation facilities in the shire.
"The upgraded pavilion at Perc Allison Reserve will not only allow for increased participation in sport in general, it will also assist the clubs to support female participation in sport with universal and accessible change rooms for players and umpires."
Jason Wood Federal Member for La Trobe said this upgrade would make a real difference to local residents in Beaconsfield who use the sporting ground every week.
"I am pleased the Morrison Liberal Government invested $500,000 to upgrade and improve the sporting facilities at Beaconsfield Recreation Reserve increasing participation and getting local residents more active, more often. This venture will provide adequate change spaces and amenities for all genders and abilities to support sport and recreation activities".
"I have made it my personal priority to upgrade local sporting facilities to make sure especially our children have state of the art facilities, female change rooms and toilets".
The $630,000 upgrade was funded with $500,000 from the Australian Government's Sport Australia Fund and $130,000 from Cardinia Shire Council.
Perc Allison Reserve pavilion is used by Beaconsfield Cricket Club, Beaconsfield Super Rules Football Club, and Beaconsfield Junior Football Club.
