The Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) released regional personal insolvency statistics for the December quarter 2018.
New personal insolvencies fell in most capital cities in the December quarter 2018 compared to the previous quarter. The exceptions were Greater Darwin and Greater Hobart.
December quarter 2018 regional personal insolvencies state by state
The Greater Sydney regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Campbelltown (NSW) (78), Wyong (70) and Penrith (63). In the rest of New South Wales, they were Newcastle (50), Wagga Wagga (37) and Tamworth - Gunnedah (35).
The Greater Melbourne regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Wyndham (66), Casey - South (62) and Whittlesea - Wallan (53). In the rest of Victoria, they were Geelong (43), Ballarat (37) and Latrobe Valley (26).
The Greater Brisbane regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Springfield - Redbank (71), Browns Plains (62) and Ipswich Inner (54). In the rest of Queensland, they were Townsville (90), Ormeau - Oxenford (80) and Mackay (66).
The Greater Adelaide regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Onkaparinga (51), Playford (44) and Salisbury (34). In the rest of South Australia, they were Murray and Mallee (24), Limestone Coast (13) and Fleurieu - Kangaroo Island (12).
The Greater Perth regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Wanneroo (99), Rockingham (76) and Swan (69). In the rest of Western Australia, they were Bunbury (34), Goldfields (18), Albany (16) and Augusta - Margaret River - Busselton (16).
The Greater Hobart regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Hobart - North West (26) and Hobart - North East (11). In the rest of Tasmania, they were Launceston (29), Burnie - Ulverstone (21) and Devonport (20).
The Greater Darwin regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Darwin Suburbs (20), Darwin City (13) and Palmerston (13). In the rest of Northern Territory, it was Alice Springs (nine debtors).
The Australian Capital Territory regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Tuggeranong (20), Belconnen (18) and Gungahlin (16).
