Mirrabooka Detectives have charged a 40 year old Orelia man after he allegedly evaded police overnight.
It will be alleged around 8pm on 25 September, the man was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer along Charles Street in Perth. Police attempted to stop his vehicle as it approached the intersection of Newcastle Street, however he accelerated through a red traffic light before colliding with a taxi. The taxi then crashed into a stationary vehicle.
The man then ran from his vehicle and fled into bushes. He was apprehended shortly after on Russell Square. It will be further alleged he was in a possession of a knife at the time of his arrest, and a search of his vehicle revealed a further quantity of knives, an axe, a catapult and quantities of Methamphetamine and Cannabis.
The driver of the taxi was conveyed to RPH with minor injuries.
The man has been charged with Reckless Driving to Escape Pursuit by Police, 2 x Fail to Stop, Endanger Life, Unlicensed Person Possess Firearm/Ammunition, Having Ready Access to Weapons and Illegal Drugs, Aggravated Driver of a Vehicle Fail to Comply with Direction to Stop, 2 x No Authority to Drive, Carried Controlled Weapon, Possess Cannabis, Possess Methamphetamine, Fail to Provide Sample of Breath, and Breach of Bail.
He will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today (26 September 2020).
