- SCEE Electrical awarded $160 million contract for works at Synergy's Collie battery
- 500MW/2000MWh battery to be one of the biggest in the world when complete
- Project expected to create up to 500 jobs at peak of construction
Synergy has awarded SCEE Electrical a $160 million contract to undertake civil, electrical and major equipment installation works for the Collie Battery Energy Storage System.
The works will include installing and commissioning about 640 battery container units, 160 inverters and 220 kilometres of high-voltage cabling, as well as managing a laydown facility at the Port of Bunbury.
CBESS1, which will have a 500 megawatt/2000 megawatt hour capacity, will be one of the biggest in the world when complete, and is scheduled to come online in late-2025.
The project is expected to create up to 500 jobs at the peak of construction.
CBESS1 is the third battery being delivered by Synergy on behalf of the State Government, with Kwinana Battery Stage One already operating and Kwinana Battery Stage Two under construction and due for completion later this year.
