  • Tournament scheduled to take place across three days at HBF Park

Following the major success of HSBC SVNS 2024, which drew 48,000 fans over three days, Perth will once again be the Australian-exclusive host of the tournament in 2025.

Supported by the Western Australian Government after a stellar 2024 which saw Perth become the first city to sellout on the final day of competition, HSBC SVNS 2025 will take place from 24-26 January at HBF Park.

Previously known as the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, HSBC SVNS attracts the world's top rugby nations to play an alternative rugby union format which involves seven players competing in seven-minute halves in a tournament format with round robin and knockout matches over three days.

The sport has a strong following in many of Western Australia's key international inbound tourism markets, including the United Kingdom, Singapore, China and the United States, and prides itself on creating a carnival-like atmosphere for spectators.

This event is expected to once again draw thousands of out-of-state visitors, injecting visitor spend into the State's economy and building on the Western Australian Government's vision to deliver an always-on year-round calendar of events.

The tournament will also be broadcast to a massive global audience, pushing WA further into the spotlight as an international sporting host.

Pre-sale tickets for 2025's event will be available from 13 August 2024, with general public ticket sales commencing 27 August 2024.

As stated by Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti:

"This year's event at HBF Park was incredible, particularly with Perth being the first tournament to host a sold-out final day, so we're very excited to be bringing it back again in 2025.

"HSBC SVNS has a strong following across the globe and a fantastic reputation for its vibrant and party-like atmosphere, so this is another great opportunity to attract interstate and international visitors to Western Australia.

"We know that hosting these types of exclusive events generate millions of dollars in visitor spend and boost local hospitality, accommodation and tourism businesses which is why they form such a key part of our overarching tourism strategy."

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman:

"Landing a consecutive position as a host for the SVNS is a great outcome for Western Australia, as rugby continues to grow in popularity amongst West Aussies, and the event inspires the next generation of rugby stars.

"SVNS Perth 2025 also positions Western Australia to solidify its growing reputation on the global stage as a world-leading host of major sporting events and continues to activate WA's state-of-the-art infrastructure."
