Western Australia's international education sector will be in the global spotlight next year, with Perth to host the prestigious APAIE Conference and Exhibition from 4 to 8 March 2024.
StudyPerth, Business Events Perth and the Western Australian Government were committed to bringing APAIE 2024 to Perth for the first time.
It will be eight years since the event was last held in Australia, with Melbourne hosting in 2016.
The APAIE Organising Committee selected Perth's bid to host the 2024 event, presented by StudyPerth in partnership with the State's five universities and Business Events Perth.
Attracting more than 2,000 professionals and service providers, the highly anticipated event will bring together education leaders, policy makers and experts from around the world to discuss the latest trends and innovations in international education.
APAIE 2024 will provide a platform for delegates to exchange ideas and share best practice, as well as build partnerships which will drive the future of education in the Asia-Pacific region.
The McGowan Government has committed $75.4 million over four years to the State's international education sector, including a $13.1 million package in the 2023-24 State Budget.
International education is one of eight priority sectors identified in the WA Government's 'Diversify WA' economic development framework, recognising the importance of the sector to securing the State's long-term prosperity.
As stated by International Education Minister David Templeman:
"We look forward to welcoming APAIE to Perth for the first time in 2024.
"This is an important event for the international education sector bringing global education leaders to Perth.
"APAIE 2024 will be an opportunity to showcase our higher education sector and share our expertise and experiences with the rest of the Asia-Pacific region."
As stated by State Development, Jobs and Trade and Tourism Minister Roger Cook:
"Securing APAIE 2024 is a big win for Western Australia that will generate economic benefits for our State.
"Expected to attract more than 2,000 attendees, APAIE coming to Perth in March 2024 is a fantastic opportunity for local hospitality and tourism businesses to showcase their world class offerings to international delegates.
"Hosting business events such as APAIE 2024 help us to better compete on the global stage and showcase WA's capabilities across a range of sectors, including higher education and research."
