Pet Owners Urged To Check Registration Status

Tasmanian Government

Pet owners in Tasmania are being urged to check their pet's microchip number and learn if they are affected by the potential closure of a major registration provider.

A notice recently appeared on the website of HomeSafeID – one of five nationally recognised databases for pet microchip numbers – saying that due to unpaid bills, the site will "likely to go offline in the future".

Minister for Innovation, Science, and the Digital Economy, Madeleine Ogilvie, has encouraged Tasmanian pet owners to act.

"We all love our pets, and nobody wants to lose them, so please take the time to check their registration status," Minister Ogilvie said.
