Peter Gartlan Joins Telecom Ombudsman Board

The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman Limited (TIO) welcomes the new appointment of Peter Gartlan as a member of its Board of Directors. Peter's three-year term commenced on 17 September 2024.

Peter joins the Board as a Director with Consumer Experience, replacing Gerard Brody who resigned on 15 August 2024. 

Peter brings a wealth of experience to the TIO Board in financial counselling, leadership, and consumer redress in not-for-profit organisations in Australia. He is the co-CEO of Financial Counselling Australia and has previously served as a director of the Energy and Water Ombudsman Victoria and as Independent Chair of the Consumer Advisory Panel at Australian Financial Complaints Authority. Peter was also involved with Knowmore Legal Service on the National Redress Scheme for survivors of institutional child sexual abuse.

Board Chair Professor the Hon. Michael Lavarch AO said, "The TIO Board welcomes the appointment of Peter as a Director. His deep background as a grass roots consumer advocate and strong experience in EDR will see him make a valuable contribution to the TIO Board. We look forward to working with him on broadening the TIO's position and standing in the Australian community we serve."  

The Board of TIO Limited is chaired by an independent Director and comprises a balanced mix of Directors with industry and consumer experience, an Independent Director with not-for-profit governance experience and an Independent Director with commercial governance experience.
