Picture Willoughby is calling for artists to be part of an exhibition

Willoughby City Council's Picture Willoughby Photo Editing Competition 2021 is looking for digital artists to showcase their work as part of an outdoor exhibition viewed by thousands of people.

Now in its second year, Picture Willoughby will give up-and-coming digital artists the chance to have their artworks viewed by festival-goers as part of North Shore's popular Emerge Festival in September 2021.

Willoughby City Council's Emerge Festival is a collection of colourful and creative COVID-safe community events to celebrate the emergence of spring. From workshops, digital events, outdoor activities, art exhibitions, and food and drink, there's something for everyone.

The Picture Willoughby exhibition will be showcased at:

• Artarmon Village Green, Artarmon

• Chatswood Park, Chatswood

• Northbridge Baths, Northbridge

• Quadrangle Shopping Village Castlecrag

• Willoughby Park, Willoughby East

Ten unique artworks are selected by a panel of judges which have been created using other images from one of the 20 high-resolution images, provided from our library's Picture Willoughby archive. Willoughby City Library photo archive has a collection of 9,000 images from the 1890s to present day.

Artists can get creative and produce contemporary digital artworks by using other images, collage and mixed media. The entry must include elements of at least one of this year's featured images.

The final artwork must be digital and be able to be printed at A3. Entry is open to artists of all ages who are a resident of Australia.

Louise Allerton, artist will select a first prize which is a $100 gift voucher to Chatswood Chase, second prize is a $50 gift voucher to Chatswood Chase and third prize is a $30 gift voucher to Chatswood Chase.

Entries close 5pm, Thursday 19 August 2021.
