Two 'pop-up' vaccination clinics will open soon in Tom Price and Paraburdoo, as part of a vaccination blitz in the Pilbara region.
The clinics are a joint initiative of the McGowan Government, WA Country Health Service (WACHS), miner Rio Tinto and the Shire of Ashburton.
The initiative is designed to improve access to vaccination for people in Tom Price and Paraburdoo, surrounding Aboriginal communities, and for Rio Tinto workers and their families.
The Tom Price Community Vaccination Clinic will run from September 17 to 21 at Tom Price Community Centre, Central Road. The clinic will be open from 9am to 6pm.
The Paraburdoo Community Vaccination Clinic will open for one day, September 23, at Ashburton Hall, Ashburton Avenue. The clinic will be open from 9am to 6pm.
People are encouraged to book an appointment via www.rollup.wa.gov.au and walk-ins are also welcome.
While anyone eligible wanting the vaccine will be able to receive it at either clinic, local families especially are encouraged to come along and do their bit to protect the Pilbara.
State-run COVID-19 vaccination clinics are available in more than 100 locations across Western Australia, with locations listed on the HealthyWA website.
A range of GPs and GP respiratory clinics will also be able to provide the vaccine to children aged 12 years and older from today.
There have been more than 1.9 million vaccinations administered to Western Australians across the State.
As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:
"It is great to have Western Australia's resources sector involved in the effort to vaccinate as many Western Australians as possible.
"Having these pop-up clinics in these towns will help to drive up our vaccination rates for people living and working in the engine room of the sector - our Pilbara.
"More of these initiatives are being planned for the future."
As stated by Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel:
"It is vital to keep our regional communities safe by getting them vaccinated.
"This new expansion in the effort to get as many Western Australians vaccinated against COVID-19 as possible is very welcome."
