Cannington Detectives have charged a 29-year-old man in relation to an aggravated robbery that occurred in Pinjarra on 17 December 2023.
About 11.50pm the victim – a 19-year-old male delivery driver – was getting into his vehicle on George Street when he was approached from behind by the accused.
It will be alleged the accused punched the victim several times before stealing his vehicle – a black Toyota Yaris. As a result of the assault, the victim received multiple fractures to the jaw.
A short time later, police observed the stolen vehicle on the South Western Highway in Mundijong. Officers activated emergency lights and sirens however it will be alleged the accused ignored direction and continued to drive away from police.
An evade police incident ensued though the suburbs of Armadale, Mundijong and Kelmscott until the vehicle crashed through a brick wall surrounding the front yard of a home on Parkfield Road. Police arrested the accused a short time later following a brief foot chase.
The 29-year-old Baldivis man was charged with:
- 1 x Aggravated Robbery
- 1 x Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm
- 1 x Steal Motor Vehicle
- 1 x Fail to Stop
- 1 x Reckless Driving to Escape Pursuit by Police
- 1 x No Authority to Drive
- 1 x Criminal Damage or Destruction of Property
He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today, 18 December 2023.
