- $11.23 million performing arts centre and sports hall officially open at Pinjarra Senior High School
- Essential facilities allow students to remain onsite for all lessons
- Part of the Cook Labor Government's commitment to provide high quality facilities to all students
The curtain has been raised on Pinjarra Senior High School's exciting new performing arts centre.
Premier Roger Cook today officially opened the new performing arts centre, which is part of an $11.23 million upgrade at the school - which also includes a new sports hall.
The upgraded facilities feature new teaching spaces for drama and dance, with a green room with storage, kitchen facilities, change rooms, other secure storage, student and staff toilets, and staff areas.
Students had previously been using offsite facilities - located across the road from the school - for performing arts and sports classes. The new facilities mean they can now remain onsite for all lessons.
The new performing arts centre and sports hall were designed by Bunbury-based MCG Architects, and built by Universal Constructions.
The project is part of a significant capital works program of more than $1.5 billion the Cook Government is delivering to build and improve public education facilities across Western Australia.
As stated by Premier Roger Cook:
"These state-of-the-art facilities will provide local students with more opportunities to explore their creativity and talents in the arts and sport, without having to leave the Pinjarra Senior High School site.
"My Government is committed to investing in schools across Western Australia to ensure students receive a quality education no matter where they live."
As stated by Education Minister Dr Tony Buti:
"After many years of using facilities across the road, students can now benefit from state-of-the-art sports and performing arts facilities on site.
"I'm thrilled to deliver these facilities for Pinjarra Senior High School students, and look forward to delivering more important infrastructure upgrades for schools across Western Australia."
As stated by Murray-Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke:
"I have advocated strongly for this project and I'm excited to officially open these outstanding facilities for Pinjarra.
"Pinjarra Senior High School is a long-standing school in our region, having celebrated its 100thyear in 2021.
"The new performing arts centre and sports hall are fantastic, modern additions to the school, and I look forward to seeing students enjoy these fantastic facilities for years to come."
