The ACT Greens are encouraging Canberrans to take part in a local clean-up as part of Clean Up Australia Day this Sunday, 6 March 2022.
"Clean Up Australia Day has been around for 30 years, and in that time it has become the nation's largest community-based environmental event," said Jo Clay MLA, ACT Greens spokesperson for the environment.
"We are so lucky to share our beautiful bush capital with so many amazing plants and animals like sulphur-crested cockatoos, gang gangs and wombats. Canberrans understand how vital it is to keep our environment free of litter. I often go for a paddle on Lake Ginninderra and I'm always sad to see litter washed downstream there. Clean Up Australia Day is a good reminder for us to take our rubbish home with us and clean up wherever we can.
"One simple way that we can do that is by pitching in this Clean Up Australia Day. There are so plenty of events to join, and I encourage Canberrans to find one in their local community.
"Join your local Greens MLAs or check out the Clean Up Australia day website."
