Brisbane Police are urging partygoers to plan ahead and use their common sense as preparations get underway for New Year's Eve celebrations across the city.
Organizing your travel plan in and travel plan out is the key to a great New Years, with police expecting up to 100,000 people to descend on South Bank and its surrounding areas.
That plan should also include thinking about how much alcohol you're planning to drink and how that will affect you.
If you're going to drink, don't get behind the wheel; check public transport schedules or plan ride-sharing services to pick you up where necessary.
NYE Brisbane Operations Commander, Superintendent Craig Weatherley said that members of the public should expect a heightened police presence across entertainment precents and party hotspots, including the Brisbane CBD, Fortitude Valley, Howard Smith Wharves, Kangaroo Point and South Bank.
"Officers will be out across the Brisbane City area to make sure that everyone has a positive start to 2024, and that means we will not tolerate any anti-social behaviour." Superintendent Weatherley said.
"Play it smart this New Years, plan your trip in, plan your night out, make smart decisions, and if you see anything that may seem like criminal or anti-social behaviour, walk away, don't get involved and if necessary, contact police as soon as possible."
"Keep an eye out for your friends, and let's bring 2024 in with great community spirit."
