Planned Water Outage For Alstonville: Ballina Shire

Planned water outage for Alstonville

Ballina Shire Council wishes to advise that essential water main works will be carried out in a section of Alstonville overnight on Thursday 21 March 2024.

The planned water outage will commence at 9.30pm on Thursday 21 March and continue through the night to 5am Friday 22 March 2024

The work will require turning off drinking water to properties in a section of Alstonville, including properties on The Avenue, Cawley Cl, Daley St and Main St (see map over page for outage area).

This water interruption will allow our water team to upgrade and install new water main valves to improve the reliability of the local network.

There will be some construction noise, including machinery and truck noise around these worksites. However, Council crews will make every effort to minimise noise where possible.

These essential renewal works are part of Council's ongoing commitment to improve our shire's water assets and will improve the reliability of the local water network.

Here's some things to remember during a water outage:

  • Fill drinking containers the day before in preparation for this outage.
  • During any water disruption it's important to leave your taps off as the water may return at any time.
  • When water returns it may be discoloured. This is due to sediment. Please run the tap until your water runs clear.
  • Your water may appear milky. This is caused by small air bubbles. Do not be alarmed as it is not harmful and will settle in a short period.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks the community for their patience while these essential works are completed.
