The future school, located next to Edmondson Park Public School on Buchan Avenue, is set to transform educational opportunities for local students and families when it opens on Day 1, Term 1, 2027.
The school was first promised by the former Liberal Government in 2018, however the Liberals never delivered it, with not a single brick laid.
The new high school will accommodate 800 students and provide fit-for-purpose classrooms and facilities to meet growing enrolment demand in South-West Sydney.
The construction contract has been awarded to Richard Crookes Constructions. Site establishment works, including the installation of traffic control measures, are expected to begin later this year.
The new high school in Edmondson Park is part of a record pipeline of more than 60 new and upgraded schools that the Minns Labor Government is delivering in Western Sydney as part of its plan to rebuild public education and ensure local families in growing areas have access to high quality public schools.
The 2024-25 Budget is delivering record education funding in NSW, including $3.6 billion for new and upgraded schools in Western Sydney.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning Prue Car said:
"The Minns Labor Government is pleased to be delivering the new high school that families in Edmondson Park deserve.
"The community in this rapidly-growing part of South-West Sydney waited too long for the Liberals and Nationals to make any progress on a new high school for Edmondson Park. Labor is getting on with the job of delivering this school, as we rebuild public education in NSW after a decade of poor planning by the former government."
Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully said:
"This new school is just one example of how we are planning for the future, with infrastructure alongside housing.
"It's essential that we provide the necessary schools to support young families in this critical growth corridor.
"Schools are the heart of our communities, and by approving this new high school close to where young families live, we are making sure that children have access to quality education right in their neighbourhood."
Member for Macquarie Fields Anoulack Chanthivong said:
"This brand-new high school in Edmondson Park will be a game-changer for local families and students.
"With the region continuing to grow, this investment in education infrastructure is crucial for meeting the demand for quality public schooling.
"I look forward to seeing this project take shape and the positive impact it will have on our community."
