We're planning landscape improvements to the much-loved Glastonbury Garden and we're asking residents what they think of our greening plans.
"Austinmer's Glastonbury Garden is a historically significant area in our city which has provided our community a beautiful green space for playing, weddings, picnics, gatherings and just to relax for more than 50 years. We're committed to preserving its natural beauty and are proposing a number of upgrades," Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.
"Our proposed plans pay homage to the garden's past by commemorating the work of Council Gardener Roxy Mossop who originally developed the park.
"We're proposing to reinstate some of his original plantings which includes bringing back the garden beds at the Wigram Road entrance as well as the Avenue of Palms and Pines that once ran from Wigram Road to Lawrence Hargrave Drive.
"We've identified further planting opportunities in the park, along with maintenance upgrades, that will help elevate and complement the surroundings of the grounds.
"This is a last-minute call out for our residents to look at our plans and provide feedback. We've routinely maintained Austinmer's valued and loved green space and we want to work with our community to see it thrive into the future."
