Plans to build a new road-side rest stop at the eastern entrance to Orange are making progress.
The suggestion from Cr Sam Romano has seen funding added to the draft budget for the next financial year.
Concept plans for a $750,000 rest stop include an access road behind the diary shed shelter and cut-out cow structures.

PROPOSAL: Technical Services Director Ian Greenham and Cr Sam Romano inspect the site of the new rest stop.
The concept plans, which are yet to be considered by a Council meeting, also include a parking area for trucks and plans to re-locate a shelter structure from the former saleyards site.
The funding would include $250,000 from the Resources for Regions funding program and $500,000 from council.
It's expected work would begin later this year and be completed in the first half of next year.

PLAN: A concept plan for the new rest stop shows a new access road from the highway. The yellow line would be a road for cars and caravans while the black line would be a road for trucks. (Click for larger image)
