Premium Western Australian produce and beverages will be on the menu in Singapore next month as part of the annual Plating Up WA campaign.
Plating Up WA is an initiative of the State Government's Buy West Eat Best program and runs for the month of June, showcasing dishes that feature WA's best winter produce paired with local beer, wine or spirits.
For the first time this year, the campaign has been extended internationally into Singapore thanks to a collaboration between Buy West Eat Best, Invest and Trade WA via the Government of WA Singapore Office, and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.
Plating Up WA - Singapore Edition provides a unique opportunity to connect Singaporean consumers with WA through their palette, as well as explore WA tourism, agrifood tourism and market opportunities.
Singapore is a long-standing food and beverage trading partner with WA, and this campaign will strengthen the relationship and allow many WA agrifood exporters to re-engage in trade and share premium food and beverage products with the Singapore market.
There will be 21 Singapore venues serving up dishes featuring WA produce, including the iconic rock lobster, scallops, octopus and marron, as well as premium pork, wagyu beef and lamb, plus niche products black truffle and black barley, all of which will be accompanied by a selection of WA craft beers, wines and spirits.
Locally, 31 venues are taking part in Plating Up WA, featuring fresh seafood including abalone, cockles and octopus, seasonal fruit and vegetables such as potatoes, broccolini, mushrooms and truffles, as well as premium meats including pork and goat.
Each participating WA venue receives an ingredient register of Buy West Eat Best members helping to connect local producers with venues and suppliers, as well as bringing attention to new ingredients and artisan producers.

As stated by Agriculture and Food Minister Alannah MacTiernan:
"Plating Up WA is a successful campaign to stimulate interest and demand for WA's fresh seasonal food and beverages, and the restaurants that use them.
"This year, we go beyond our borders to our neighbours in Singapore, aiming to rebuild export markets after two years of disruption.
"Take the opportunity this June to dine out and experience the flavour sensations of top WA produce, including lobster and truffle dumplings, pork shoulder vindaloo, a hearty soup with gold band snapper and local winter vegetables. Buy West Eat Best."
As stated by State Development, Jobs and Trade and Tourism Minister Roger Cook:
"Singapore is a really important trade and investment market for Western Australia.
"I know from my recent trip to Singapore that there is a huge appetite for fresh WA produce to be served in their restaurants.
"It is an opportunity for local businesses that is only going to get bigger, which is why the Plating Up WA campaign is such a terrific initiative."
