Western Australians are encouraged to support Perth's tourism operators on the Grand Final long weekend, with a range of tours and experiences available at half-price from today.
Tourism Council WA has partnered with Destination Perth and Western Australia Visitor Centre in an industry-led and funded program, Play On In Perth, offering a range of discounted tours and experiences for the Grand Final long weekend.
Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall urged Western Australians to travel like they would if they were travelling to Melbourne for the Grand Final.
"Embrace the festival atmosphere that will take over Perth on the Grand Final weekend by planning a long weekend trip, complete with tours and experiences," he said.
"Perth's tourism operators are ready and waiting to showcase the best Perth has to offer and this is an excellent opportunity to get that experience at half price."
Destination Perth CEO Tracey Cinavas-Prosser said she looked forward to seeing Western Australians take full advantage of the Play On In Perth initiative.
"As an industry-focused organisation, Destination Perth is delighted to be able to support a program which gives back to the industry and promotes its amazing products and services," she said.
Mr Hall said Perth's tourism operators had been the worst affected by interstate border closures.
"Perth has been the most affected part of the WA tourism industry, with a recent survey showing overall business activity of Perth tourism operators declined by 72 per cent," he said.
"The Grand Final weekend is the perfect opportunity for Western Australians to support these tourism businesses and save jobs."
