With a range of play equipment including swings, tightrope, multi-play activity unit and a climbing net, a new playground at Glenroi Oval offers a new play space for kids aged 3 to 12.
The new playground also includes a carousel, rodeo board, junior play unit and spring rocker.
Orange City Council's Sport and Recreation Community Committee Chair, Cr Tammy Greenhalgh is delighted by what the new playground offers to Orange's children.
"Keeping kids busy and occupied is essential. With the new Glenroi Oval playground we are aiming at developing a sense of local ownership and responsibility of the area," Cr Greenhalgh said.
"This new playground gives kids the opportunity to gather somewhere and have some fun while keeping active."
The playground project was identified in the Glenroi Oval Master Plan which was developed in 2019 in consultation with the Glenroi community. The aim of the Master Plan is to maximize the safe use of Glenroi Oval for sports and recreation whilst reducing vandalism and antisocial behaviour.
"Playtime is an essential part of childhood and this new playground will provide our children with a safe and fun place to grow, learn and play," Cr Greenhalgh said.
The playground has received positive feedback since it was completed in early January 2023.
"Creating opportunities for our children to play and explore is key to their development and with this new playground, we're giving them the tools they need to grow and succeed," Cr Greenhalgh said.
The total cost of the project was $168,000, with $50,000 contributed by the Federal Government and the remaining $118,000 allocated by Orange City Council.
"Investing in our children's future is investing in the future of our community. Today, with the installation of this new playground, we're doing just that," Cr Greenhalgh said.
