Community consultation has led to a reduction in the Plozzas Road speed limit from 80km/h to 60km/h.
Plozzas Road is a growing area, with 17 lots along the road and many more along adjoining roads being developed.
This growth has seen a massive increase in families with young children moving to the area, which has raised safety concerns about the speed of the traffic along the road.
Following open discussion with residents, the overwhelming consensus of surveys collected through HRCC's Have Your Say platform indicated that the speed limit needed to be lowered, citing child safety, the narrow width of the road and the volume of heavy vehicles as the main reasons.
The decision was approved at the September Council Meeting, with new signage installed along the road in November.
