Plumpton Aquatic And Leisure Centre Masterplan Approved

The Plumpton Aquatic and Leisure Centre will move ahead following approval of the building masterplan at the 22 July Council meeting.

The Plumpton Aquatic and Leisure Centre on Beattys Road in Fraser Rise is being built to meet the leisure and wellbeing needs of the City of Melton's community – one of the fastest growing Council areas in Australia.

Residents were invited to participate in a community consultation process during May 2024 where feedback was sought on the Centre's design themes, the importance of individual services and facilities and how the community see themselves using the Centre.

More than 1,000 overwhelmingly positive responses from residents were received, one of the largest number Council has received on a project.

The proposed design of the Plumpton Aquatic and Leisure Centre included indoor pools, splash play areas, water slides, spas, a sauna, a sensory aquatic space (the first of its kind in Australia), health and fitness areas, allied health spaces, an outdoor interactive water play area with beach-style access, change facilities and a café.

After consulting the community, Melton City Council approved improvements to the layout and the addition of several extra features:

  • The inclusion of a multipurpose/events space and rooftop deck
  • An additional second program pool for learn to swim and aqua aerobics
  • Refinement of the aquatic sensory space layout
  • Relocation of the gym to the ground floor and group fitness to the first floor
  • Increased car parking.

Construction on the centre will start in 2026 and it is expected to open in early 2028.
