The podcast series will be launched at a special event on Thursday, 10 April, at the University's North Terrace campus featuring a live panel discussion reflecting the themes of the podcast itself, including resilience, navigating adversity and the importance of mentorship and community.

The panel will feature some of the podcast's guests, including body positivity advocate Taryn Brumfitt, the University of Adelaide's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement) Professor Jessica Gallagher, co-founder of Uniti Wireless Limited Sasha Baranikov, and journalist and MC Jess Adamson.

"The podcast is designed to empower women entrepreneurs and aspiring leaders by sharing real-life insights, practical strategies, and inspiring stories from those who have navigated the challenges of leadership and business," says Zrinka Tokic, manager of ThincLab - the University's business incubator.

"The launch event will introduce the podcast while offering attendees the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and hear firsthand from accomplished women who have built successful careers and businesses," Tokic says.

Hosted by MasterChef alum and business owner Sav Perera, the first season of ThincHer - You're in Charge will feature six episodes, bringing unique perspectives on leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Conversations will range from building businesses from the ground up to driving industry transformation and advocating for social change.

"By featuring women who have walked this path, the podcast aims to inspire, validate challenges, and equip listeners with the mindset and tools to succeed," Perera says. "We want to foster a strong, supportive community of women who uplift each other."

Among the featured guests is Sasha Baranikov, Thinclab Growth and Strategy Expert and co-founder of Uniti Wireless Limited. She led her company to an ASX listing in under five years, and in under ten years saw it acquired for approximately $3.7 billion. A self-made entrepreneur and growth strategist with 17 years of global experience, Baranikov says having strong female role models were instrumental in her success.

"Mentors can play a pivotal role in your career. Believing you can be what you see is part of this," Baranikov says. "I'm excited to share my story and support the next generations of female entrepreneurs and leaders."

Other guests in the first season include Janine Allis, founder of Boost Juice and a leader in the Australian retail industry; Alisa Fraser, founder and CEO of Al.ive Body; Brooke Upton, content creator and emerging business owner; Tanya Hosch, Indigenous Australian social activist; and Professor Jessica Gallagher, the University of Adelaide's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement) and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor International and External Engagement of Australia's newest university Adelaide University.

"These women aren't just leaders in their fields - they're changemakers who have overcome barriers, redefined success, and are actively empowering others," Tokic says.

The podcast is part of the University of Adelaide's broader commitment to fostering leadership, entrepreneurship, and diversity. ThincHer is a key initiative of ThincLab, the University's intensive entrepreneurial leadership program designed by women for women.

"The University of Adelaide has long been at the forefront of providing resources and opportunities for women in business," Zrinka says.

"This podcast is a natural extension of that mission - creating a platform for women to share their experiences, mentor others, and shape conversations around leadership. By continuing to showcase the achievements of inspiring women, we're not only celebrating success but also challenging outdated stereotypes and paving the way for future leaders."
