Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision which occurred near Longwood this afternoon.
Officers have been told a truck and ute collided on the Hume Freeway about 4.50pm.
The driver of the ute, a yet to be identified man, died at the scene.
The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and is speaking with police.
Northbound lanes of the Hume Freeway have been closed while police investigate and diversions are in place.
