Police Are Responding To Fatal Collision In Burwood

Major Collison Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a fatal collision in Burwood this evening.

Emergency services were called to reports two cars had collided at the intersection of Warrigal Road and Highbury Road about 7pm on Tuesday, 2 July.

The yet-to-be-formally identified male driver of the first vehicle died at the scene.

It is believed a number of males from the second vehicle, which is believed to be stolen, fled on foot while another two females were arrested at the scene.

The pair, both 15-years-old, were taken to hospital under police guard.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and police have cordoned off the area.

Local police with assistance from the Highway Patrol, Dog Squad and Public Order Response Team are searching for the males who ran from the scene.

It is expected the area will be closed to traffic throughout the night while detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit process the scene.
