Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a fatal collision in Rochester this afternoon.
Emergency services responded to reports two vehicles had collided head-on on the Northern Highway about 5km south of Rochester about 1.30pm.
The male driver of one vehicle, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
His female passenger was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The female driver of the second vehicle was also taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Two passengers of that vehicle, both teenage girls, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.
