Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision which claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Wantirna this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Mountain Highway and Boronia Road where a car and motorcyclist collided about 2.50pm.
The rider of the motorcycle, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
The driver of the car was not injured and is assisting police with their enquiries.
Investigations into the exact cause of the collision are ongoing.
