Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a pedestrian in Strathmerton last night.
It is believed the pedestrian was walking along Numurkah Road, near Reynoldsons Road, when he was hit by a car travelling south about 9.40pm.
Sadly, the 68-year-old local man died at the scene.
The driver, a 42-year-old man from Strathmerton, stopped at the scene and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Numurkah Road will be closed in both directions for some time while Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives process the scene.
