Police are responding to fatal crash at Penola

A man has died after a crash at Penola.

About 10pm on Friday 10 February, police and emergency services were called to the Riddoch Highway after reports that a truck had left the road and crashed into a tree.

The driver and sole occupant, a 49-year-old Mount Gambier man died at the scene.

Major Crash officers are examining the scene.

The Riddoch Highway is closed between Robe Road and Mount Burr Road with police diverting traffic through Penola.

Please avoid the area if possible.

The man's death is the 18th life lost on South Australian roads this year, compared with 4 at this time in 2022.
