Northern Territory Police are investigating after a fatal pedestrian strike in Berrimah overnight.
Around 8pm, emergency services received reports that a 36-year-old man had been struck by a vehicle travelling inbound on Tiger Brennan Drive, Berrimah.
St John Ambulance declared the man deceased shortly after their arrival.
The 50-year-old male driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and has since tested positive for drugs. He was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital for the purpose of a blood test and is assisting police with enquiries.
A 46-year-old man was also arrested at the scene and remains in custody. He expected to be charged in relation to the incident later today.
Traffic diversions were in place throughout the night and the road is now open.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Richard Musgrave said "This is a complicated investigation with multiple people in custody. The Major Crime Unit is assisting The Major Crash Investigation Unit in relation to the incident leading up to the fatal crash.
"Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the crash, the disturbance beforehand, or if you have dashcam of the people involved to make contact on 131 444. Please quote reference 24055403."
