Sadly two people have died as a result of a two vehicle crash in Bridgenorth today.
At around 2.30pm, a fatal two vehicle crash has occurred at the intersection of Bridgenorth Road and Long Plains Road, Bridgenorth, in the West Tamar Municipality.
A blue Toyota Corolla sedan has been travelling south on Long Plains Road and collided with a white Toyota Hilux utility that had been travelling west on Bridgenorth Road.
As a result of this crash, the driver and front seat passenger in the Corolla, a male and female both in their 80's and both from Newnham, have died at the scene. The driver of the Hilux, a male aged 19 years from Rosevale and his male passenger aged 20 years from Riverside, were conveyed by ambulance to the Launceston General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police Crash Investigation and Forensic Services attended the collision and a report is being prepared for the Coroner.
Initial Investigations suggest that the Corolla has driven past a give way sign just prior to the collision.
