A 60-year-old man passed away and a 19-year-old woman is in a critical condition following a crash between a motorcycle and a car in Koumala this morning.
Early investigations indicate at about 10:30 the car and motorcycle collided on the Bruce Highway.
The 60-year-old rider died at the scene and his 19-year-old pillion passenger was flown to the Townsville Hospital with critical head injuries.
A 63-year-old woman, the driver of the car, had moderate injuries and was transported to the Mackay Base Hospital for treatment. The four passengers in the car were not injured.
The Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing, and investigators would like to speak to anyone with relevant dashcam footage from that area or anyone with information that could assist.
