Just before 6pm yesterday (Tuesday 4 March 2025), emergency services were called to Scone Road, Merriwa, about 5km north of Merriwa, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District attended and found an SUV had left the roadway and crashed into a deep culvert, before rolling and coming to rest on its wheels.
The driver, a 67-year-old woman, was assisted by a passing motorist and an officer who performed CPR prior to the arrival of emergency services attending.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman, however died at the scene.
A crime scene was established and investigations commenced into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
