Police Are Responding To Fatal Crash Near Wollongong 17 October

A driver has died after a multi vehicle crash south of Sydney.

About 3.20pm today (Thursday 17 October 2024), emergency services responded to reports of a four-vehicle crash on Memorial Drive, Towradgi – about 4km north of Wollongong.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the male driver of one of the vehicles; however, he died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 70's.

The drivers of the other vehicles – all men aged 18, 35 and 65 – were uninjured.

They have been taken to Wollongong Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Wollongong Police District have commenced an investigation into the matter.

Major traffic delays are being experienced and motorists are urged to avoid the area.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
