Police Are Responding To Fatal Crash - Papunya

Northern Territory Police have responded to a fatal crash near Papunya earlier today.

Around 1.15pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of a crash involving two vehicles about 65km from the Tanami Highway on the Newhaven access road.

Initial reports indicated up to ten people may have been involved, including five children aged between 5 and 10 years-old.

Emergency services attended and an adult female was declared deceased at the scene. All other occupants are receiving medical treatment for various injuries, none of which are believed to be life-threatening at this stage.

A crime scene has been established and investigations are ongoing.

The Lives Lost on Territory Roads in 2024 now stands at 43.
